The DML 1/72 T-34-85

I bought the DML T-34-85 kit in 1/72 scale the other day. This is the first 1/72 scale kit I've bought in...well, a long time. I remember building the old Airfix kits in the 1970s, and things have changed a lot.

The T-34-85 is simply a beautiful kit....till you get to the roadwheels. Now, one thing I loved about the roadwheels is, they have no seam to sand off. Here at AMPS Albany we've been trying, so far without success, to recruit a
seam bitch into the group - someone whose sole function is sanding seams so the rest of us can get on with it.

Each of the wheels on the T-34-85 has 12 holes in it. They need to be drilled out. At first I thought, well, OK, it's a 1/72 kit, stuff happens. But then I remembered, this is the company that can drill out the MG barrels on 1/35 weapons ! These are the wackos who hollow out the muzzles and *sights* on German rifles in 1/35th scale (so far no Allied weapons are this good). Why can't they drill out these damn road wheel holes? Compared to German rifle muzzles, they're huge ! I urge you to write your Congress-person (or dictator if you live in that kind of country) and DEMAND that DML address this problem.

Old Rants
WARNING: If you are humor impaired or otherwise easily offended you probably don't want to view this page.
The old rants are archived because, let's face it, we all love to complain. This page is dedicated to the idea that old complaints never die, they just come back again and again because we are all too lazy to actually solve problems.

This classic rant was the first posted to our site in April, 2006.
