The Dioramas
(Bandai-ese: "Diolamah")
DISCLAIMER

The photos that appear here are of models that caught our inbred rheumy eyes, not necessarily the contest winners or "best" models in the contest.
So if you are looking for your model and don't see it, it is because we were too hung over to take a picture of it. It's completely our fault. Please email us your photo and, if our Central Committee favors it, we will be happy to publish it here.

Tank On !
Our old favorite, Dioramas. This year the category was a bit under-represented, but the quality was right up there. Our favorite was the M-24 unloading from an LCVP.

Oh well, in the words of Homer Simpson,
"Life is just one setback after another until pretty soon you wish Flanders were dead.".
So here's a B-24D, we think, in an MTO setting. If we got this right, please send a medal to the Ignorant Tank Modelers Division, AMPS Albany.

Gorgeous paint job on the bomber, although it probably lost points due to the lack of pornographic nose art.
This is awesome. I am craving bacon.
Easily the most creative entry was this diosaur scene. The eggs look ready to cook.

Those teeny little dinos are just so cute - don't you just want to reach out and strangle them?
Check out the Austin Powers teeth
Now this rocks. The M-24 was pimped out with a resin upper hull, new tracks, twin 14" subwoofers, and some other cool gear. Very nice model on its own.
The LCVP is cut off just right; the ground work is good, and most of all the composition was right on.

These are just a few of the reasons this entry did not get First Place in dioramas.
The interaction of the figures is spot-on.
It's subtle, but the suspension is tricked out to conform to the ground. Check out the tools, the .50-cal mount,  and the new idler wheel.
Nice urban dio. I didn't catch the title.
Nicely composed vignette. Sorry for the poor photo.

From the graffiti,I think these are the 23th strasse 'Bloods" rumbling with the Cripschutzen.
Nice Aussie P-40.  These guys are whining "Why don't WE get a shark-mouth?"
Nice Panther G in an urban setting. What the heck does the sign say? "One-Hour Photo" ???  "Pictures Developed in Time for the Big Retreat"?
Nice sci-fi diorama. The urban wreckage is great. I don't know if the figures are Jersey Orcs, Fire-Belching-Hobbits-From-Hell or what. But its cool...looks like Stalingrad in Outer Space.
It's sort of hard to tell from the picture, but this is like 1/87 scale or smaller. The figures and groundwork are terrific for the scale.
