There are two BA-20 kits on the market. This one has been marketed by DML and Alan and is the better of the two. It is an early BA-20 with the vertical turret. The other kit, marketed by Start and Maquette, has some more accurate features and the more common sloped turret, but is so badly engineered it takes a huge effort just to get it together. The Start FAI-M is a similar story - great-looking parts, if only they fit together somehow.
I base-coat in black, then add the actual color coat in a 'cloud' pattern, leaving lots of shadows in the edges and nooks and crannies.
I did some more experimenting with weathering on this, and with a huge sympathy vote, got a gold medal for it. This is the second-worst kit I've ever built.
The antenna mounts were drilled out but the antenna left off. I just liked the look of that. There is no real reason for it. |
